The number of people and families living with HIV/AIDS, including orphans and vulnerable children who need care and support services, is continually increasing. This phenomenon poses tremendous challenges to the health care and community systems that struggle to keep up with responding to the pandemic. We seek to create a supportive environment for people living with HIV/AIDS and their family members who are affected by the disease in Nigeria in the Imo and Rivers States.
Our project objectives are to:
• Form support groups for HIV-infected persons and their families
• Identify and strengthen referral systems that contribute significantly to meeting the long-term prevention, care, and support needs of HIV-infected persons
• Provide quality clinical care such as treatment information and treatment of opportunistic infections
• Provide home visits and home-based care
• Provide food and nutritional supplements to HIV-infected persons
• Provide psychological social support
• Provide economic support by funding individuals to establish income generating activities and legal support, including access to care and protection against violence and discrimination.
