Malawi

Since 1997, we have been working with the Malawi Government and Ministry of Education to upgrade the quality of primary school teaching. We provide assistance to the Malawi Ministry of Education, Science and Technology through USAID-funded projects. We work within colleges of education and focus on teacher training, curriculum development, methodology and pedagogy, education theory and practice, physical education, HIV/AIDS, English, Science, Mathematics, engineering and computer science. We also assist the Ministry of Education in developing and addressing special needs students, who are visually and hearing impaired, through training student teachers.

We have placed more than 80 qualified and experienced volunteer educators from the United States to work within the Ministry of Education, Colleges of Education, universities and teacher training colleges to train teachers in primary and secondary education pedagogy, promote quality education by improving teacher competencies in core subject areas, emphasize learner-centered teaching methodologies, and strengthen classroom management capabilities. Our volunteers also work with the Special Education Department.
